About the Harvard Center for Astrophysics
Founded to advance observational and theoretical astrophysics, the Harvard Center for Astrophysics bridges telemetry from deep space flagships with supercomputer cosmological simulations and open science pipelines.
Unrestricted Open Data
We believe knowledge of the cosmos belongs to all humanity. All calibrated spectra, light curve fits, and code repositories are published under CC-BY 4.0 and public domain licenses.
Rigorous Peer Review
Our principal investigators publish in leading peer-reviewed astronomy journals including ApJ, Nature Astronomy, Physical Review D, and Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society (MNRAS).
Global Consortium
Partnering with NASA Goddard, ESA, STScI, Caltech IPAC, and the ESO Paranal Observatory to deliver real-time science telemetry to over 140 research institutions worldwide.
Our Scientific Mission
The twenty-first century has ushered in a golden age of astronomy. With the deployment of cryogenic space flagships like JWST and next-generation ground surveys like the Vera C. Rubin Observatory, astronomers now collect terabytes of multi-wavelength data every single night.
Harvard Astrophysics was formed to curate, synthesize, and democratize these colossal datasets. By building interactive scientific tooling, machine learning automated transit detection pipelines, and open REST APIs, we empower researchers, university students, and citizen scientists to explore the universe without computational barriers.
